A very interesting question popped up on one of the Facebook groups I am a part of- Humans of Digital Marketing

The question is-

What is the difference between a trending and a viral post?

Well, trending is plural, viral is singular.

When a lot of creators create similar pieces of content on a particular theme, that theme is trending.

When there is a buzz, conversations happening around a particular topic, person, or incident in the whole ecosystem, that means it’s trending.

When a content piece suddenly breaks into the scene out of nowhere and gets a lot of eyeballs and engagement, it is a viral post.

“Binod” became a trend.

“Baspan ka pyaar” is viral.

Content marketing will always be a trend.

Posts on content marketing can go viral.

You can always go viral hopping on to a trend and a viral post can start a new trend.
